Black Pearl belongs to the Elounda Perls Villa Complex, located on the cosmopolitan resort of Elounda on the island of Crete, offering great beach and activities options. Spinalonga, the famous 'Island Leper Colony' is now an archaeological site worth to visit by boat excursion. The nearby Plaka is ideal for divine fish and seafood tastes, while the traditional village of Kritsa (20km) remains a pure Cretan village to offering a 'dive' into times gone by. Agios Nikolaos, with its picturesque lake Voulismeni, a small lagoon in the center of the town, is within a 10 min drive form the villa. The Airport of Heraklion is 50 km west.

Research for a quality villa is part of the holiday for me and I was quietly confident that if the pictures were anything to go by then I'd be on to a winner. I've got to say that the pictures don't do the villa justice !! The villa is located quite high up on the hill overlooking the gorgeous Elounda bay - the view is quite simply breathtaking.Sitting on the deck with the infinity pool is probably the most relaxed I've ever felt on a beach holiday. It was really handy to have a gym in the villa and we even watched a couple of movies on the huge plasma screen, which has a great sound system attached to it. A quality touch was providing sound systems in all rooms with iPod connectivity. I'd recommend a car to explore local beaches, (Almyros & Golden Beach), and to get to the water park near Heraklion etc, although taxis are cheap (it's 3K to town, but you wouldn't want to walk it). Yanni, the owner, is on hand to sort any problems out - he can't do enough for you, from recommending choice restaurants to sorting taxis out if they don't arrive on time (he actually drove us to a restaurant when a taxi was super late !). What a nice guy. Make sure you do the speedboat tour with Yanni - you won't be disappointed. This trip is made even better if you've got an underwater camera to take advantage of the lagoons he takes you to. The world is a big place, but if I go back to Elounda I'll be heading straight for the Black Pearl !

Yiannis is the perfect host and the villa is excellent. Everything we needed was already at the villa when we arrived. If we needed anything during our stay, nothing was too much trouble for Yiannis. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, we felt welcome and very well looked after. It's in a great, very private location, with a fabulous view the photos don't do it justice. And the villa is very spacious and comfortable. Took around an hour to get there from Iraklion. It's easy to get to supermarkets and local shops in nearby Elounda, although Plaka is a smaller, prettier little town with some nice little shops full of local stuff. And the local restaurants deliver good quality food. The location is a bit breezy, though in 20-30 degree heat, the breeze was welcome as was the cooling pool. Yiannis was always contactable for advice and recommendations for places to go and was from start to finish of our holiday, the perfect host. I couldn't recommend this villa enough.

Yiannis was the perfect host and the villa was outstanding. Communication prior to the trip was excellent and Yannis made sure that all of our requests were dealt with. Yiannis was very generous in providing provisions when we arrived. During our stay, Yannis was unobtrusive but was always available to provide answers to questions, make recommendations and extremely helpful to ensure we enjoyed our holiday to the full. The position of the villa provided fabulous views of the sea and the infinity pool gave the impression we were actually enjoying the sea. We asked for the Villa’s pool to be heated during our stay, this enabled us to enjoy the pool at all times of the day. The Villa was beautifully clean, very well equipped and very tastefully decorated. We had a spectacular holiday and I’m sure this will not be the only visit to the Black Pearl villa.
