The Caves, with their wild yet peaceful beauty, took their name from the reflection of their waters. By visiting them with a glass-bottom boat, one can even see the magnificent flora and fauna that stands under the mysterious see. Whoever visits the Caves is instantly captured by the natural scenery, the one-of-a kind blue colour, and the imposing shape of the Caves themselves. You can only reach them by boat. From Agios Nikolaos you will find many organized daily tours that will take you there and give you time to experience their beauty. The Shipwreck is one of the most important sights in all of Zakynthos as well as one of the most well-known beaches around the world. The Beach took its name from a ship called “Panagiotis.” In 1980 “Panagiotis” sank around the rocks of the beautiful shore, due to extreme weather conditions. From that day forward, the crystal-clear turquoise waters and golden sand of that shore were to become a popular destination for tourists all around the world. The beach is only accessible by water, but very easily so. You can grab one of the many boat tours to the Shipwreck from all around the island. Just a few meters away from Yoma, in Agios Nikolaos, our partners will take you there speedily and safely. A few kilometers away from Yoma Cove Suites one can find a heavenly spot. Xygia Beach is a beautiful bay with crystal clear waters that you are bound to fall in love with. It is easily accessible and has a few parking slots. Above the beach you will find a little canteen, surrounded by trees. From there, the view of the Ionian Sea is breathtaking. To get to the beach just follow the staircase. Your first dive into the waters is sure to remain unforgettable. Makris Gialos, one of the most beautiful beaches of our island, is located near Yoma Cove Suites and the adjacent port of Agios Nikolaos. Just a few meters away from the central highway, Makris Gialos is surrounded by red rocks, tall trees as well as traditional tavernas and restaurants. The beach is full of sea shells and a very good choice for visitors who enjoy unorganized beaches but want to be in close proximity to a variety of different food options. Around the see you will notice the beach’s mysterious caves. Many visitors chose to swim through them and climb up its rocks. To access the beach is very easy. Visitors will find parking spots across the main road just meters away from its crystal-clear waters. In 1535, two local monks created, in the traditional village of Volimes, the first local monastery of st. George (also known as the “old monastery”). Following multiple pirate raids and earthquakes, this first monastery got destroyed. However, the central tower that was built in 1561 to guard the Holy Monastery from the pirates still remains its symbol. Many important figures of the Orthodox Faith are linked to this monastery. Most notably Gerasimos Notaras and st. Gerasimos, the patron of Kefalonia. The route to the monastery is breathtaking. One will not only experience the wild beauty of northwestern Zakynthos but also a view of Shipwreck Beach.
